Nom Nom ATL

August 4, 2016

Being a native Atlantan, and one that loves to eat, I often get asked about my favorite restaurants, where to take visitors, and other hidden foodie gems around the city. I can't believe I'm doing it, but below, I'm sharing my list with all of you. What am I missing??

Note, at this point, I didn't include anything from the food stalls at Krog Street and Ponce City, but they both offer a million good options.

In Town: The restaurant scene in the Inman Corridor and around the Beltline is exploding. On a nice day, a "progressive" meal is the way to go!

  • GunShow - Dim Sum Style, but American Food

  • BoccoLupo - amazing italian, need to make a reservation like a month out, I LOVE the black spaghetti

  • Java Jive - great brunch, fresh biscuits, adorable decor

  • Antico Pizza - the owner has a little empire on the west side including the pizza place and Gio’s chicken which is awesome

  • Le Fat - fancier than Buford Hwy, but amazing Vietnamese, the clay pot chicken is a must

Buford Highway: There is nothing better than a night eating at Buford Highway followed by a foot massage at the amazing Treat Your Feet (make sure to go to the one outside of the perimeter!)

  • Nam Phong - vietnamese - must haves include the papaya salad and

  • Chateau Saigon - vietnamese - must haves include the shaking beef, vegetable soup, and Sushi House

  • Isakaya - sushi - any sushi and sashimi here is amazing

Cheshire Bridge: We lived off of Cheshire Bridge for several years and I swear it's home to some of the best restaurants in town. Sadly, many have shut their doors over the past few years due to new developments, but many good ones are still alive and kicking.

  • The Colonnade - A relic from the past - fried chicken and other southern food, everyone in there is about 90+ years old

  • Little Bangkok - Thai/Chinese total whole in the wall

Alpharetta/Roswell: A lot is happening OTP. With the emergence of Avalon, Alpharetta has matured in their restaurant offerings. The town of Roswell is an amazing place to sit outside or bar-hop.

  • Farm to Ladle is one of the best healthy, on-the-go offerings in Alpharetta. Their turkey chili is delicious and I highly recommend their wheat berry salads.

  • Osteria Mattone - A Roswell front-runner that has fresh made pasta and great fish

  • Greenwoods - This is a great place to bring visitors looking for standard Southern food. It features some of the best fried chicken this side of the Mississippi.

  • Table and Main - Perhaps the most well-known of the Roswell restaurants, everything on the menu is delicious but it's the cocktails that really steal the show.

Sandy Springs/ Buckhead

  • Rumi’s - Located just outside of the perimeter, is consistently voted one of the best in the city. Huge portions of kabobs, rice, and grilled veggies make it a star.

  • True Food Kitchen - You feel healthy just walking into this place. Dr. Weill's brainchild is organic, low-cal, and local where possible.

Miscellaneous

  • For BBQ, the two best in ATL are Heirloom BBQ and Fox Brothers.

  • There are a ton of great Steakhouses around town - my favorites are Hal's, Bone's and Chops.

  • For fancier, pricier nights out, I recommend Cakes and Ale in Decatur, Umi Sushi in Buckhead, Floataway Cafe near Emory.

I'm getting hungry now...
